The Mad Catter Cattery – 20a Hobbs Road, Matakatia, New Zealand
By booking your cat into The Mad Catter Cattery, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These policies help us ensure the health, safety, and comfort of all animals in our care, as well as the smooth running of our cattery.
1. Bookings & Payment

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your cat’s stay during the peak period (Dec-Feb) No booking is confirmed without this deposit.

The remaining balance must be paid prior to drop-off, unless otherwise arranged in advance.

For all other bookings, full payment is required 72 hours prior to check in. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking.

We accept all major payment methods through Xero, including EFTPOS, credit card and bank transfer.

Bookings during peak periods (summer and public holidays) may require full prepayment and are subject to stricter cancellation terms.

Early pickups or late drop-offs will not result in a refund or discount, as space is reserved exclusively for your cat.
2. Vaccinations

All cats must be fully vaccinated against:

Feline Panleukopenia (Enteritis)
-
Feline Herpesvirus
-
Feline Calicivirus
-

Vaccinations must be administered at least 10 days prior to check-in and be valid within the last 12 months.

You must present a current vaccination certificate at drop-off. We cannot accept cats without proof of up-to-date vaccination.
3. Flea & Worming Requirements

Cats must be treated for fleas and worms within 7 days before check-in.

If signs of infestation are found, we will treat your cat at your expense and may isolate them for the safety of others.
4. Health & Behaviour

We do not accept cats that are:

Sick, contagious, or showing signs of illness
-
Aggressive, feral, or unsafe to handle

Please inform us of any medical conditions, medications, or behavioural concerns at the time of booking.

If your cat becomes ill during their stay, we will seek veterinary care at your expense and notify you or your emergency contact.
5. Medications

We are happy to administer medications if required. Please bring clear instructions. An additional fee may apply.
6. Drop-off & Pick-up

Drop-off and pick-up times are listed on our Facebook page. Please refer there for the most current hours.

Outside of these hours, collections may be arranged by prior agreement only, and may incur an additional fee.
7. Personal Items

You are welcome to bring a blanket or toy, though we cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings.
8. Cancellation & Refunds

Please refer to our full Refund & Cancellation Policy below.

Cancellations made less than 7 days before check-in are not eligible for a refund, including the deposit.
9. Liability

While every care is taken, The Mad Catter Cattery is not liable for:

Illness, injury, or death due to pre-existing conditions or unforeseeable events

Loss of personal items
-
Veterinary or medical expenses incurred during your cat’s stay

10. Photography & Social Media

We may take photos or videos of your cat during their stay for social media and marketing purposes. Please let us know if you do not consent.
11. Agreement
By booking with us, you acknowledge you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
The Mad Catter Cattery
We understand that plans can change. The following policy helps us manage bookings fairly and ensures we can provide quality care for all guests:
Deposits

A 50% deposit may be required to confirm your booking. A 50% Non refundable deposit is required for peak season.
Cancellations

More than 14 days’ notice: Full refund of any additional payments (excluding deposit).

7–14 days’ notice: 50% refund of additional payments (excluding deposit).
-
Less than 7 days’ notice: No refund available.
Peak Periods
-
During summer and public holiday periods, no refunds or credits are available for cancellations made with less than 21 days’ notice.

Full prepayment may be required.
No-Shows & Early Pickups

Failure to arrive without notice is treated as a cancellation.

Early pickups do not qualify for a refund or credit.
